MPD Mobile Speed Camera Unit Now East Bound

Unmarked Mobile Speed-camera Unit, East-bound @ C & 18th Streets

Long overdue, MPD's Homeland Security Bureau - Traffic Safety & Specialized Enforcement Branch has recently, in the last 6 weeks or so, deployed a mobile speed camera unit to enforce the 25MPH speed-limit along C Street's east-bound lanes adjacent to Eliot-Hines JHS.

This is great news; however, it appears the west-bound mobile speed camera unit has not been deployed since the east-bound unit's inception. And, MPD rarely, if ever, deploys the unit on weekends.

Nonetheless, thank you MPD for over two years of continued service, your presence is much appreciated by C Street residents and all C Street users, especially Eliot-Hines JHS students.

We've asked for a permanent speed-camera to enforce the speed limits in both directions with support from ANC6A and Council Member Wells, but have yet to get an official response from MPD. We hope to have an update soon.

Has anyone else noticed the west-bound unit's absence?
